Sussex Flood Mitigation Project

The project is intended to reduce flooding in Sussex by redirecting peak flood flows away from the downtown/residential areas and toward the Kennebecasis River floodplain. The Town has identified future flooding as a significant risk, with previous studies estimating that more than 450 properties could be affected by a future 100-year storm event without additional mitigation. 

Why your input is ESSENTIAL:

The information gathered through CCVMs help us assess whether this project may pose any risks to our collective Mi'gmaq rights, including impacts to lands, waters, resources, and how we live and practice our way of life. What you share (knowledge of the area, land use, etc.) plays an important role in how we assess and respond to projects happening in our territory.

These sessions are a key part of how we ensure that any projects happening within our territory are carefully reviewed and do not infringe on our inherent and Aboriginal rights.
