Meet the team
The Impact Assessment Team coordinates, disperses, and reviews materials to help determine the impact of a proposed project on the lands and waters in Mi’gmaq territory. The department will lead discussions with the relevant departments to collect, research, and summarize that information and make recommendations based on input from Chiefs and communities. This process is outlined in the Mi’gmaq Rights Impact Assessment (“MRIA”).
The Impact Assessment team at Mi’gmawe’l Tplu’taqnn Incorporated (MTI) plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all development projects within Mi’gmaq territory are carried out responsibly and sustainably. This dedicated team meticulously evaluates the potential environmental, social, and cultural impacts of proposed projects to safeguard the interests and rights of the Mi’gmaq communities.
By collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, developers, and community members, the Impact Assessment team ensures that traditional knowledge and values are integrated into decision-making processes. Their work not only protects the natural environment but also preserves the cultural heritage and promotes the well-being of the Mi’gmaq people for future generations.
Through comprehensive assessments and continuous monitoring, the team upholds MTI’s commitment to sustainable development and the protection of Mi’gmaq lands and resources.
