Meet the team
The Forestry and Natural Resources Department is the primary contact for government and industry on projects, activities, and issues on Crown Lands in New Brunswick. The Department primarily deals with the potential impacts of forestry, leasing on Crown lands, and blueberry and peat bog development.
Mi’gmawe’l Tplu’taqnn Incorporated (MTI) is dedicated to sustainable forestry practices that honor the traditions and knowledge of the Mi’gmaq people. Our forestry initiatives are designed to balance ecological integrity with economic viability, ensuring the health and resilience of our forests for future generations. We actively engage in community consultation and collaboration to manage forest resources responsibly, focusing on conservation, biodiversity, and the sustainable harvest of timber and non-timber forest products.
MTI’s forestry programs also emphasize capacity-building and employment opportunities for Mi’gmaq community members, fostering a deeper connection to the land and promoting the intergenerational transmission of traditional ecological knowledge.
