Meet the team
The primary goal of the Fisheries Department is to develop a structure for a Mi’gmaq rights-based fishery that will be governed according to Mi’gmaq laws, principles, and values. This structure will be based on input from Mi’gmaq fishers and community members through summits, meetings, and community consultation sessions.
The Fishery Team at Mi’gmawe’l Tplu’taqnn Incorporated is dedicated to the sustainable management and conservation of marine resources. Our team of experts works collaboratively with local communities, scientists, and policymakers to ensure the health and vitality of our aquatic ecosystems. We are committed to preserving traditional fishing practices while incorporating modern techniques to enhance productivity and sustainability.
By fostering a deep respect for the environment and promoting responsible fishing practices, the Fishery Team strives to protect our marine heritage for future generations. Through education, research, and community engagement, we aim to create a balanced approach that benefits both our people and the natural world.
