Meet the team

The main goal of the Energy and Mines department is to prevent adverse effects on our use, occupancy, and management of the land and waters in Mi’gmaq’i that could result from proposed energy and mining projects. This is accomplished by meetings with proponents, governments, and their agencies to ensure consultation principles are respected and information is shared with communities.

The Energy and Mines team at Mi’gmawe’l Tplu’taqnn Incorporated is dedicated to fostering sustainable development and stewardship of natural resources. Our team is committed to ensuring that energy projects and mining operations within our territory are conducted responsibly, with a focus on environmental protection, community engagement, and economic benefits for the Mi’gmaq people.

By leveraging traditional knowledge alongside modern practices, we aim to create a balanced approach that respects our cultural heritage while embracing opportunities for growth and innovation. Whether through renewable energy initiatives or careful resource extraction, the Energy and Mines team works tirelessly to support the long-term well-being and prosperity of our community.
